CEU: Cast Metal Amenities | Sustainability & ADA Compliance

Learning Objective

This course explores the traditional sand cast foundry process and how modern, sustainable foundries can produce durable, safe, high-quality site amenities that enhance public health. It highlights processes that distinguish environmentally friendly manufacturing techniques, aiding landscape architects in selecting cast materials. The session emphasizes adhering to the 1.5 °C climate threshold and ASLA’s 2022-2025 Climate Action Plan, aiming for zero emissions by 2040, and underscores the role of foundries in carbon reduction. Furthermore, this session also connects sustainable practices with producing ADA-compliant products, guiding the selection of amenities that promote safety and welfare while averting from non-environmentally conscious sources.
